A PDF looks the same on every device, so your document doesn't shift or lose its layout when someone opens it on a different computer or phone.
It's also the safer format to send: recipients can read and print it, but can't accidentally edit it. That makes PDF the usual choice for CVs, contracts, invoices, reports and assignments.
